Activities

Individuals with learning disabilities often have smaller personal networks and forming friendships can be more difficult.  Just Homes Activity Groups offers the opportunity for all individuals to socialise and meet new people.

Monday Club

Held in Guildford every Monday - the club is run by Rosemary Wykes - Activities Co Coordinator for Just Homes who has vast experience in this field, working for Just Homes for many years and supporting groups and individuals in Art Therapy.

The club is an arts and crafts activity group who meet every Monday - Arts and Crafts are planned and agreed in advance with the group and there is a detailed plan for each session - arts and crafts are extremely therapeutic, relaxing and rewarding sessions for people of all abilities and we very much welcome and encourage individuals and groups of people with special needs and learning difficulties to join the group and participate -The club runs sports and awards days, & celebrates all festivals and special days and occasions with themed art based projects. One service user said ‘I made a bug hotel for the garden and I check it every day'.

Music and Mime Group

Held every Tuesday -Music and Mime is held in Guildford location and is run by Elveeh De Rama - Elveeh has over 20 years’ experience running this group for Just Homes.

Positive and meaningful social interaction is important in our groups.   The music and movement group gives the opportunity to socialize and meet new people.  Communication through vocalization, touch and other gestures can help develop a high level of familiarity and reciprocation, which enables trust and creates a relaxed atmosphere in the sessions.
